is there assembly involved or does it come in as one unit (plus cushions)?

BEST ANSWER: Comes as 1 unit except screwing on the legs which is easy. We had trouble getting it through our sliding door. We had to take doors off. In hindsite...there are zippers tucked into bottom of cushions. Had we known we would have just removed some of the stuffing as the overstuffed cushions was hindering getting it thru door. We love it.
Are the back cushions removable?

Great Quality
We wanted to turn our spare room into a functional room, but not a full bedroom. This sofa couch is beautiful, material is wonderful, and the bed mattress is comfortable! And the bed has a feature where that raises the top half for reading, etc. We couldn't be happier with every aspect of this sleeper sofa!
