Most desks need to be placed against a wall. This desk does not. The back is as functional and presentable as the front. The desk provides additional storage and a large work surface. The wood finish also appears to be a very good quality and is a beautiful finish.

Amazing, beautiful and easy to build!
Absolutely beautiful desk! Loved that the table top was already built. It was SO EASY to assemble! We had a nightmare with a purchase from another retailer with a similar looking desk (but different colour etc) and it was horrible (from missing parts to needing complete assembly of EVERYTHING.) I’m so glad I returned that desk and found this one from Ashley. Thank you!

The desk is beautiful BUT...
Although the desk was larger than I anticipated (check dimensions) it is a beautiful piece. I have a dedicated office so this wasn't an issue for me. If you are planning to put it in the corner of a room be sure to measure. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because there is no place for a keyboard. I Since this is an office desk, I would have expected it. Also the drawer handle sticks out a couple of inches and may be uncomfortable for some because it rests right at your abdomen area.

Pass on it
The quality & aesthetics of the desk are not the issue. It is the height of the desk that is part of the issue. Is doesnt matter what height your chair is at either your feet dangle or your elbow is on the edge of the desk cutting off your circulation. Further, you cannot use this with a desk chair that has arms as it bites into the drawers as every chair I looked at is too wide to fit. Further when are able to pull the armless chair close enough so your elbow does not fall off the desk the drawer handle bites into your stomach. I am of average height & weight and only really bought it because of the display ledge in the front as it sits in the middle of the room. Im 5'7" and my husband is 6'2" and has the same issues that I have with this desk. Move on & find a lower height desk - look at the specs this desk is the tallest of any & you wouldn't think an inch or two would make such a big difference.
